My first idea for the Alphabet Challenge W card was wedding anniversary in gold. The double challenge was use no white. I could not make the card suit me (and at the time didn't know anyone having a 50th anniversary). So, I set the elements aside and did something different. Then I found out Sharon Madson was celebrating her 50th anniversary, so I got the bits back out, and worked on it, until I finally arrived at this card.
The card base is 135# white gold cs, then I cut a layer of American Crafts linen textured gold cs, and used a fancy Fiskars corner punch on it. I used (for the first time!) a very nifty Spellbinder's embossing folder named Framed Canvas, which I really, really love, and trimmed it very close to the raised embossing. That piece is Neenah white gold cs. I had layers cut with various Spellbinder's small dies, from gold mirror cs, American Crafts gold corduroy textured cs, Cannete metallic white stripe cs (that's fancy expensive wedding stuff- bought at a going out of business sale- wish I'd bought ALL they had- it's gorgeous!), another layer of AC gold linen cs, and I foiled the 50th on a sheet of Neenah white gold cs, and die cut that last little layer. Layered those together, with dimensionals under the metallic white stripe bit, and mounted on the embossed piece, then I cut 2 of the large frame from the Sue Wilson Granada die set (because it wasn't big enough to show around the embossed layer) out of mirror gold cs. I cut the two Granada frames, and pieced them together, and layered the embossed piece on top of the frame (look VERY closely at the right & left side of the frame- you'll barely see two teensy gold diamond dot squares that hide the joint between the 2 frame sections), and layered it all on the card. I added a couple of side motifs also cut from the gold mirror cs, and added gold diamond metal embellishments at the corner punches. Inside the card, printed on white gold cs, I foiled a message, and layered it on gold cs. Finished up by stamping my "Not Hallmark" stamp on the back of the card. Stuck it in a clear envelope and hand delivered it to Sharon this morning.
I am mostly pleased with how it turned out- that gold mirror stuff is awful to work with, it shows EVERYTHING- fingerprints, glue smudges, just anything that touches it, but it's glorious looking on cards, so I keep fighting the battle with it. I think she liked it when I gave it to her today.

Wow, so rich and gorgeous in gold. That embossing folder is wonderful. Love the die cuts in the middle too. It's a beautiful and perfect card for our Sharon.
