I went back to basics and pulled out a bunch of ink pads to watercolor this rose. I simply smooshed the top lid onto the ink pad to get some ink onto the inside of the lid, and then I used that as my palette to pick up color with my paintbrush. I went over some areas many times with water or more ink to create highlights and shadows.
I'm not sure if I want this to be a birthday card or a sympathy card. I'll stamp a sentiment when the time comes. :-)
