When I read CraftyMerla's challenge, I was rather perplexed as to how I could get so many items and did I have such a variety to make this happen?
When I was in early grammar school, I had the opportunity to meet a family from Japan. Reachy's dad brought his family with him while he conducted business from Northfield MN. Reachy had a little sister who we tried to incorporate into our play time but she was very bashful.
At the end of second grade, my family and I moved from our farm in Rice County to a farm in Beldenville WI. During that time, Reachy and her family moved back to Japan. I lost all contact with her.
At the end of sixty minutes, I threw my hands in the air (like they do in the cooking competitions) and told myself, what's done is done. It was then that I realized that I had forgotten to use vellum.
In spite of that, I really like how it turned out. From the traced Japanese words to the picture of the lady and the young girl, each aspect speaks fondly of my friendship with Reachy.

Your card is beautiful and so its history. I love the picture on the washi paper and the East/West embellishments of scrabble tiles and Japanese characters. You have such an interesting bg, Roberta. Thank you for sharing your artwork and stories!
