I was needing to make a birthday card for my dad, who turns 87 later this week. When I saw today's Try a New Technique Challenge - TLC584 - Everything Old is New Again (Rock 'n Roll) 5/2/16, it gave me inspiration to go a different direction with card I had in mind to make for my dad.
Since my dad is still a rancher and raises black angus cattle, I knew I wanted to use this cool Angus cow/calf stamp I got from Sutter Stamps. Since angus cattle are pure black, there was no way I could do a rock n roll technique on that stamp, so I dug through my stamp stash until I found and image that would make sense paired with the Angus. The Sun Ray stamp from SU Kinda Eclectic is funkier and more contemporary than my normal style, but I thought it looked kind of cool with the cows.
I used the rock n roll technique on the rays of the sun, and a direct to paper rock n roll on the outside of the sentiment circle. The light was flat today, and I just couldn't capture the subtlety of if the yellows & orange on the sun rays in my photo. Sigh...so it goes.
I thought this card had a happy feel to it, and I hope this Angus cow/calf pair brings a big smile to my dad's face. Happy Birthday, Daddy!

I can see the orange tips to the sun rays, Susy! But with our weather, I totally understand photography issues.
What a perfect card for your dad. It looks as good as Angus beef is tasty ;-). Loving your woodgrain paper too.
