hold onto your shoes, gals! Earlene and Joelene are having a moment...lovin' sisters that they are. They decided to show up for Shoe Girl's 'Give it a laugh' Ways to Use it. Come have a look see.
Once again my son brought home these awesome sisters (an old square colored photo probably from the '60's). He just knew I'd be able to bring them to life once again...isn't that so awesome that my son brings home 'stuff' for me to use in artful ways? I am so blessed. So they've been sitting on my drawing board in the studio patiently waiting for me. Tonight was the night...humor, Shoe Girl said!
I fussy cut these red suede shoes by Jessica Simpson from a magazine in the break room at work. I think I hurt myself in shoes like that back in the day, you, too??? I knew they would be fun to build a card around some day. So here we've come to the perfect meeting of arty elements...main characters, lusted after expensive fancy dancey instruments of torture, and a tiny lil' story in thought bubbles.
I photo copied the sisters photo for black and white. Cut the border with the deckle scissors, just like they did back then. Embossed with Seam Foam White to make it appear as a real photo. Used metal photo corner brads again adding to the authenticity. Made the thought bubbles on watercolor paper that had already been painted in those aqua hues. I had lettered Earlene and Jolene's comments.
Earlene says: Sis, remember those Italian instruments of torture. Nashville Harvey's 1963?
Jolene replies: oh, those S*xy red high heels---my bunions, my hammertoe, the nightmares.
I couldn't resist adding the red netting, all puffy and sparkly. The sisters probably used some just like that every night to keep their 'do's looking fine.
Hope you had a giggle, smile, or a laugh out loud snort! Can't wait to see roam the WT gallery today. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Earlene and Joelene are drop dead gorgeous and I bet them have had many a great night of partying with Eunice (she is loving the Aussie sunshine BTW). Susan every inch of this is fabulous and fun. How terrific that your son enables you to create magic. Pinned and faved!!!

It's a 5* laugh out loud card Susan, and then some! This is more than clever, it's genius - and I must thank you for your amazing 'how-to' instructions that you generously share with every card you make. And thanks to your son today too - bless him.
I especially love the white embossed border on the photograph, it's so effective. Your ladies comments are hilarious. Well blooming done today mf

I thought the photo may have been of your aunts or something; it looks like genuine vintage to me. And those shoes!!! You get the prize for cutting them out. I always say that the foot doctors are making a mint because of shoes like that. How can one not have foot problems or back problems after wearing them? :>) Thanks for sharing Susan!!

This is truly my giggle for the day. I love the photo......and the colors!!!! I'd have worn those RED shoes way back when, but you covered it all by listing the bunions etc. - a result of my wearing the wrong shoes all my life!! You are the best!

What a cool card, Susan! You've added the perfect dialogue - and the most gorgeous ribbon. I've always gone barefoot as much as possible, and I must say I'm quite horrified when I see how deformed some peoples' toes are from wearing "fashion" shoes. Sure - they look fab and so does your fussy cutting...but they're not for me, I'm afraid.
