You nailed a timely challenge, Cathy today. So much passion, division, wisdom, and turmoil among those who would wish to be the next leader of America. I can only pray for guidance of those in authority. And celebrate the best we have to offer.
This card is also a friend throw~down to use papers tessaduck and I couldn't resist back in December. Brenda's beautiful peace dove and my Shalom can be seen here. What is it about papers or fabric that makes our hearts pitter patter? In my card today, I managed to use 4 of the patterns in the 'Original' group.
The flag was paper pieced, stamping it 3 times on the different papers. I fussy cut (yes, I can't resist) the various elements of the flag and then put it onto the base image. The stars were hand colored. The stripes were done with the distress maker in Festive Berries. The base was embossed with the Sea Foam ep. I used silver German scrap for the poles and small rhinestone brads at the top. It was matted 3 times (yikes, that is a lot of matting for me...) grin.
The patriotic song was created in 1831 by Samuel Francis Smith. He managed to write the lyrics in 30 MINUTES! And we think we can't design a card in 30 minutes???? The melody is shared with 'God Save the Queen'. This Artist Outpost image is my very favorite flag, I think it captures the movement fantastically.
Thanks so much for have a look...and can't wait to see what Brenda does with her paper pad...it's a bluesy parade today. Won't you join in?

Your card brings the visual image to me of the 50 American flags that flutter around the Washington Monument in DC. Lovely choice of DPs to go with your image. Stunning card.

This card is both moving and gorgeous, Susan! LOVE the dimension and the silver trim on the flag poles! I for one am still in awe of the American flag and what it represents!
