I wanted to road test distress ink, pencils and Peerless paints and have to say, they all look very similar, especially their hair.
The tag on the left was painted with Peerless paints, the middle tag was coloured with Prismacolour pencils (and a small swish of turquoise Inktense watercolour pencil). The pink girl was done with distress ink.
The trick to make colouring look good is to give the image a second stamping AFTER you have finished colouring it. I leave the rubber stamp in place in the MISTI after the initial stamping. Remove the tag, colour it, stencil, etc then put it back in the MISTI for a final stamping.
This is a good habit to get into, especially if you use alcohol markers. You can do the initial stamping in Memento, then the final stamping in any brand to give it more oompf.
Thank you for looking.

I LOVE this idea! Thank you! Pencil in particular often obscures the lines. I just never thought to do it. Your tags are spectacular, Susie and love the neutral colors with the hint of subtle shades added to it. The buttons are a wonderful touch. LOVE these tags!

Amen to REAL women, Susie!! Each one of the tags has a beautiful image and, except for the subtle shades of color, I think they all look similar. Great tips, lady!

Susie, thanks so much for the color comparison, very helpful! All three of these tags are fabulous, I'm glad I don't have to pick just one as a favorite!

Road testing, eh? Well, they all turned out great. Good idea with the MISTI, also. I love that thing and think we all do. My neighbor used mine and just had to order one today. I LOVE your tags...all of them.

I LOVE YOUR TAGS!!! I think I like the Prismacolour pencils on the center one the best. It appears richer...to me anyway. The distress inks come across much softer and the Peerless paints seem to be more intense. They all look Amazing! What a Fantastic sentiment! Also love the wee buttons and the Susie doodling around the edges!!! Gotta go and put in a few more hours before my eyelids close for the night. Got some more Gorgeous papers and 2 new dies in the mail today. Duty calls. Can't keep them waiting.

I love that you did these tags in 3 different mediums - just the comparison is an eye opener, though I do love them all. Great hint about stamping them over after coloring too!

Fab trio of tags, Susie. What great hair colouring! My favourite is the pink one, which is funny because it's far fromy favourite colour! The kraft tags add a great country feel.

Wow, wow, sis! These are gorgeous, and I just love this image and the sentiment - so true! And I love that you road-tested these color techniques. I think the middle one looks more intense, but I love them all! Stunning and delightful as always, sweet sis! xoxo
