For the WT challenge we are to depict our little corner of the world. I live in an area of TX that is very near what is known as the Piney Woods. We lived near Houston for 28 years but moved about 2 years ago. Now we are about half way between Houston and Dallas. Our town is Crockett - named after Davy Crockett. I would have put a coon skin cap on here but sort of ran out of room. The oil industry is a dominant industry here so I drew a little oil derrick. I had to draw the shape of TX also since I didn't have one big enough and drew the long horn. The area we are in has many long horn cows (and many other kinds of cows). In fact I have been told this county produces more cow-calves that any other area in the state. This area is hilly - yes, in TX there are hills! And it is very green. We have abundant wild flowers in the spring so I added the blue bonnets and the yellow rose is one of my favorite emblems of the state. I sponged the state in mostly green for this area and then added some crumb cake along the west side of the state (It's dry and dusty there) and added blue along the gulf coast side. I stamped a few sea shells there as well. I punched a silver glitter star and placed it approximately in the area where I live. Lots of fun!

Pat, this is my favorite card for the challenge. Love, love how you designed all your Texas elements in this card. This could be a cover for a Texas Tour Guide. The outline of the state is perfect. Thanks for sharing your corner of the world.

Any time I have written your address I've always wondered if it was related to Davy Crockett...and now I know. Pat, you really rocked this challenge, it's such a fabulous collage card full of interesting details. Thank you for such an interesting write-up, too.

I agree with Linda..this could definitely be on a travel brochure for Texas! What an awesome advertisement for your state! I love all the elements here...the trees in the corner, the yellow rose, the oil tower....this is really well thought out Pat!
