In Massachusetts, visitors flock to see all the historic places, among them Plymouth Rock, where the Pilgrims were supposed to have landed. Imagine their surprise (and shock) when they see the teeny little thing under a monument style gazebo at the shore. The first time I saw it, I thought it was some kind of joke!!
These pilgrim mice are happy to be beside the rock.......it's not much bigger than they are!!
If you're a history buff, go to the Freedom Trail, Old North Church, or the Granary Burial Ground. Skip the rock.

OMG, Anne, you are so right on about the rock! I visited it with my family when I was a youngster and thought the same thing. I love your depiction using those tiny Pilgrim mice! Your framing is so pretty and of course your clouds are always a hit~

Well Anne, after 'google-earthing' The Plymouth Rock I can see why your card depicts the mice with the rock, I'm still smiling at your description... I also had a paddle in Frog Pond and visited the Burying Ground. At least I know you can't pee for free in the Lil Italy caffe opposite Old North Church... in case I ever need to! Great history lesson today, thank you.

Oh I need to travel back, I did the tour of the rock when I was a child with my parents. You are so right, it is a rock under a gazebo and many flock to it. I shall have to check out Freedom Trail, Old North Church, or the Granary Burial Ground. Thank you for showing us a corner of your world.

Anne, love your sense of humor. Yes the rock is not very impressive, but the rest of your state is beautiful. To me the most amazing part, is how your people restore buildings to their original colonial architecture. I found the people to be very cordial, and very willing to share stories. The beautiful Santa Maria is a great piece of history to view. Thanks for adding the humor in the challenge today.

Cute out!!! I love this Anne, thanks for the BIG smile. In Northern Ireland there is a World Heritage site, a basalt rock formation called the Giant's Causeway. It is still pretty impressive, but probably not what a lot of people are expecting from the name - like your little supermouse-sized rock. I think that quite a few of Edward Eager's books were set in MA and as a child they made me want to visit it - but when I did, I spent most of the time in hospital with my mother.
