This is my card for Melody's VSN challenge - now we are in Indonesia, and learning about batik. This is a craft we did a lot as children, so even reading her challenge evoked the smell of hot melted wax, and the laborious chore of ironing it all out afterwards!!
I mostly used the Burned Batik tutorial she has linked in the challenge write-up, but added the step of folding and creasing my card to get the cracked lines. Only wouldn't you know it, I was right out of my lighter el-cheapo white card, and this one didn't fold too easily!!
When it was done I added the sentiment panel, hanging it from ribbon to tie in with the theme, and stitched round the edges. On the edge of the time limit Sammy isn't coloured the best and I'll replace him with a newer model before mailing this out ;-).
Check out the Around the World in 80 Days master challenge thread for some fun challenges and a great education!!
