Here is my sample card for Robin's fun Free for All challenge - using wrapping paper. The details for the challenge are here
I only have el cheapo wrapping paper, it's bright and happy, but very thin and tears as soon as you look at it LOL, so it needed a bit of preparation.
I started by cutting a piece of wrapping paper about 12" x 10", no need to be perfectly square. Now take a piece of cardstock approx 8" x 10" and completely cover the cardstock with a kids school glue stick. Lay the wrapping paper over the cardstock, and smooth out with your hand - the larger piece of wrapping paper makes it easier to position on the cardstock. Allow to COMPLETELY dry.
Use a 4.5" square of acetate (or celephane bag) and move it over the wrapping paper to see what part of the paper you want to use.
Using a craft knife and metal ruler cut the desired 4.5" square, then cut this into 3 strips in varying widths, using double sided tape, adhere to card base. The gap between the strips were slightly different but very noticable, also the right hand panel is an insy bit lower. Instead of making it all look like a mistake, I cut a thin strip of white cardstock (bigger than the two gaps) and adhered it right across the full width of the card. If I had placed the strip in the middle the different sized gaps would still look bad, by placing the strip lower, every rectangle now looks like it has its own individual size.
Thank you for looking.

This is such a bold, graphic card, Susie. It has that "wow factor" all over it. The white lines look so much better being off center and I love the big letters. This is such a creative holiday card.

How fun is this, Susie! Love the way you incorporated all the different patterns in your wrapping paper. I love the way you've created your window panes.

LOL at the "allow to completely dry", I lack patience there but I know it's necessary. I use spray-mount for things like this because 'it's faster ;-). What a stunning design, it has a fantastic fresh, modern feel.

Looks like a pretty package tied up with golden string(remind you of a song lyric??) : ) It's a happy and cheery wrapping paper, but I know what you mean by it tearing easily(that's why I buy the "good stuff" since I'm as "slap-dash" with wrapping as I am with card making and it has to withstand my rigors) : ) Terrific and creative card as ever, Susie.
