My friend Carol (Bobbie's Girl) included some really neat Spirelli trees in my birthday card this year and was also kind enough to supply the pattern too! Thank you so much for getting me hooked...but good! LOL I sewed the tree in gold metallic thread and heat embossed the outside edges of the cardboard (a great way to use scrap tissue boxes) *Note to self! be sure to emboss the edges first BEFORE sewing metallic thread has a tendency to melt under high heat! Don't ask how I know!! LOL The background is well aged scrap paper and the Cheery Lynn greeting is cut from some scrap metallic cardstock. I didn't have any glitter paper so I outlined the background with score tape and sprinkled gold glitter on everything. I like the results. This was also the meeting project for our last stamping get together.

Ooh, I love your tree. Uh oh...I think I know how you knew about embossing before sewing. I guess we live and learn all the time. I adore your card.

Gorgeous, Sue! It's been a very long time since I've done Spirelli and I'm thinking I need to revisit it. Just looks terrific on your tree & lol on the heat. I've melted many a thing I didn't intend to w/ my heat gun.

Lovely Christmas card with your spirelli stitched Christmas tree, Sue. The golden accents both glittery and matte look so pretty with the rustic cream bg.

I like how it turned out too. It's beautiful with the gold thread. I think I need to try that. And YAY for your upcycled tissue box. I've been working on a pizza box lately. It's disappearing fast. Your card is great. How did your girls do with theirs?

Sue, I just LOVE the spirelli type stitching on this! Beautifully done and I did get such a chuckle about the heat gun. Learned that when I used acetate on a card, then decided to emboss it (grin). Um, yep- melted acetate. Love the glitter paper you created to frame this too!
