I don't know if any of you have ever started a project and instead of finishing it, you put it on a shelf to collect dust or not, but this is one of those for me, so I don't know the maker of the calendar or paper cause this was started several years ago. I been to card making classes but this was my first and only craft class and while everyone else started in on making their calendars like the instructors I sat there for 20 minutes and stared at the kit wondering what I wanted to do with it. Everyone else put their reindeer, trees and clock on the back. I thought the paper was so pretty it deserved to stand alone so I grabbed the packaging out of the garbage and created a scene for the front with a lot of glue. I ran out of time so when I got home it was placed on the shelf and forgotten about unfinished.
So here's to finishing something I started ;O)
I combined Burnt Umber & Crimson acrylic paint to give the calendar more of a wood look instead of the bright white it was, I felt it suited the paper better.
I distressed the edges, added the embellishments and snow-tex and then covered the snow-tex with the rock candy. Some of the embellishments needed something extra so I got out my silks and a very tiny paint brush and voila!
Now - unto the next unfinished project ;O)

Congrats on finishing the project!!! It turned out beautifully! I love the touches of "snow" that you added on top and each of the left corners of the boxes. And I also love the colors you sponged on, as well as the clock. You should now be able to really enjoy this each year!

Whew!! What a labour of love, but CONGRATS!! You finished it! Just looking at it overwhelms me great eye, though. Your extra touches really add warmth and character to this. LOVE the snowtex touches and the fabulous scene that you kept to the front. Enjoy this to the max, Patricia Who gets the treats this December??

It's so satisfying to finish an old project, isn't it! Though I sometimes find them hard to go back to - especially knitting and sewing. This is fabulous, I can totally see why you rescued the packaging and used it. I love the additions on the fronts of the little drawers, especially the holly and poinsettia. What a wonderful creation this is.

Oh, Patricia, the fine details and beautiful touches are amazing! I am so impressed and love seeing all the views! Absolutely a work of "heart" and so worth saving the packaging! Hugs!
