Last year when I visited the 911 Memorial in NYC, I took this picture of the amazing piece of art called 'Trying To Remember the Color of the Sky on That September Morning'. I cannot begin to tell you how much this huge wall meant as I was overwhelmed with emotion when I saw it. I was flying on that fateful morning and one of the things I can truly remember the most was the striking blue of the sky. I decided it was finally time to put this picture into my PL album but I needed the picture to speak for itself with simple accents. I thought the gold and wooden elements worked well to create a page that could still focus on the photo. These pretty dies from Scor-Dies really helped add interest without taking focus away! I have other pictures from my visit and now it is time to add them to the album too, along with my memories of the day. Because this is a day to remember....

The strong lines of the photo are certainly the focal point of the layout, but I love the gold sequins and twine - they almost look like feathers with the curve in them. It must have been quite hard to scrap this, I would think - but it's a beautiful page.
Oh, wow! I saw your pocket folder before you had written your description. I loved it then but now with the added details of the story behind the album it's even more beautiful! I love your gold accents. The sky was incredibly blue here that day too. My husband is an aircraft tech in Atlanta and had to "guard" planes that night.
