Ok, I'm the principal of an elementary school. I tell you this because I like to keep a notebook and record any students who come to my office, for any reason, pleasant or "unpleasant". So my thing is that I tell the boys and girls that my notebook is there to help remind them that everyone gets a second chance. If they are sent to my office for something minor, we talk, I write down the issue, give the parents a call, and then we never speak of it again. If they come back a second time (rare), the record in the notebook reminds us that the consequences have to increase to help the student learn from their mistakes. Hey, it works. So I actually like to keep the cover of notebook kinda fun so it's not necessarily a punishment. This year my theme for increasing student thinking is "Dive Deeper". Well I HAD to use my Sea Street set to create an underwater scene to reflect this! What's more summery and vacation-y than the water? Right?
Sorry for the long explanation. Now to the deets. I cut a piece of Island Indigo in half and used a sheet of paper torn from the book as a guide to punch holes then slip the holes so they would fit over the spirals. I stamped the "water" with craft white using the Work of Art set, stamped some creatures, cut out the octy, mounted it on the circle, I added some DSP and ribbon then made my little sign with the delightful rotary alphabet stamp. (I love that thing!) So there is an opaque cover that goes on top so it should last all year.

Awesome! I can't believe you fussy cut the octopus--but it was worth it 'cause he's super cute popped up like that. I might have to misbehave to get my name in that book!
