Sympathy cards are never easy to create. Especially this one. I'm sending this card to Aunt Doris, my MIL's identical twin, whose mirror has grown dark.
On July 8th, my dear MIL passed away at the age of 84. She left a twin sister, 4 sons, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Dorritt May (Fisher) Lessard will be laid to rest next to my beloved FIL in Wisconsin. We are left with wonderful memories of both.
On July 12th while returning from California back to Wisconsin, her oldest son, and his wife, were in a terrible accident. Thankfully they will recover. Our family appreciates your prayers for recovery and traveling mercies.
Even with this news, we are thankful for God's mercy and protection. We are leaving a week from today for a three week trip across the northern U.S. and Canada. Once we return we will attend to family matters. With that said, I will be limiting my gallery posts for a while.
With love and admiration for all my SCS friends
Susie ~

Susie, I am so sorry for your loss and the terrible accident! I sincerely hope you find joy in your upcoming trip considering the sadness.
Your card, WHOA! That coloring is mind boggling! The shading is so beautifully done on the blossoms! Combined with your soft, background wash, this is a gorgeous card for her twin! Your work is outstanding always!

Susie, I am so sorry to hear about your family situation. I know I am writing months later, but such loss and other trauma takes much time to cope with and the healing process especially for grief is different for each person. I personally am grateful for my faith in God at such difficult times, and I am glad that you too look to your Savior at such emotionally difficult periods of your life too. I know that you have been missed at SCS, someone with your great artistry and generous spirit is truly a treasure here!
This is another example of the glorious coloring in shading and blending and highlighting that I admire so much in your artwork, Susie. Your watercoloring is truly wonderful, and I love how your background enhances your focal image, as does the blocks of color that frame this image. It is truly awe-inspiring!
Please know that I will be thinking of you and your family members as you continue to navigate this path without the presence of your dear MIL. And I hope and pray that the family members who were injured in the car accident have totally recovered. I know all too well from personal experience and as well from what friends have experienced just how devastating car accident injuries can be, and hope and pray that everyone is doing well now.
Sending my thoughts, prayers, and my admiration too for the talent that you use so well that God has given you--as always I am in awe of all that you are able to accomplish on a card front. Truly amazing!!!
