Thanks for taking a peek at my 2nd Father’s Day card. This one for my FIL who would camp every day of his life if he could. He loves the outdoors. So this is a pretty basic card using the Impression Obsession birch tree dies which are new for me. I found them to be a little short for the ideas I had in my head so I ended up putting a frame over the top of my scene so the trees all didn’t end in blank space. The frame (Spellbinders Labels Eight) provided a great place to put my sentiment which worked out well. The technique is sponging backgrounds with Distress Inks using paper masks to put ink just where you want it. The blues in the sky came out quite a bit darker than I was shooting for so I smeared streaks of white Picket Fence Distress Paint over it and blended it just a bit with my fingers. What a great product to have on hand if you don’t have that in your stash!!! I reach for it often. The tiny birds were also colored with Distress Inks (scattered straw and stormy sky) applied with Fantastix, and then finished with Ranger Archival Potting Soil which was also used in the sentiment and the stamped trees (SU Lovely As a Tree). My sentiment got a little off center but it wasn’t enough for a “do-over”. Shucks!
