I colored this image after I colored the image for my Daisy Faux You uploaded yesterday. Somehow this image just isn't right. I'm ready to throw into the trash!! Why isn't it working? Are the greens just too heavy? They seem to be fighting for color intensity with the violets but when they were lighter they didn't seem weighty enough. Any suggestions from all you artists out there? Do I have just too many light spots on the flowers? I'm satisfied with how the Lily of the Valley turned out. Should the color of the violets be changed to make the leaves look right? Decisions, decisions. IRL the violets aren't quite as bright.

I think that it will depend what cardstock you pair it with. The other option, and princessink did this in the dd this month, is to lay a vellum overlay over the entire image, toning it down.

Hi again, Ann! I agree with Valerie. I think that toning with a vellum overlay may do the trick. Your coloring is wonderful! And you've definitely nailed the Lily of the Valley!

I like it just the way it is! The green is a little bright but so are the flowers so neither really overpower each other. I like your shading in the flowers. Perfect! You say that IRL the flowers are not as bright? It sure scanned beautifully! My scanned images become too muted and that disappoints me.

My personal thought iws to always go with the natural color of the flowers and leaves. I'd use a lillte more purple or lavender on the violets and very little pink. Violet leaves are fairly green. However the leaves of the Lilly of the Vally are quite dark. Maybe try using a darker green. It's a lovely image that you worked very hard on....don't throw it away! Good job!

I too love the look as it is. I do agree that the color cardstock will make a difference. Can't wait to see what you end up doing with it. I even like the suggestion of vellum. Good luck.
