This is for Lisa's fun Ways to Use it challenge - elements of earth, wind, fire or water.
One of my favourite 'earth' foods would have to be mushrooms, so here we have two little owls rugged up against the blustery wind and rain. They are going home to thaw out in front of their fire!!
I started by stamping the owls onto smooth white cardstock then onto a piece of X-Press it "Mask It". Cut the mask out and lay it over the cardstock stamped image. Now stamp the mushroom over the masked owls also stamp a mushroom mask and fussy cut.
Once the owls and mushrooms are masked I did the usual smack and squirt (smack distress ink pad onto foil, squirt on water, then sponge onto card using a foam blending tool), I used peeled paint and mowed grass for the ground and salty ocean, faded jeans and chipped saphire for the sky. Spritz on water then as it starts to 'pool' pick the card up to make the water run across the card.
Stamped on a little tree branch at an angle to look like they were blowing in the wind. Remove masks (store with stamps for future use), colour in the owls using Tria markers. To tone the owls down and to make them look grounded, scrub walnut stain distress ink with foam blending tool.
Water drops were made with a micron pen and white sharpie paint pen - Lydia did a great mixed media challenge for the homemade water drops MIX105 here
.
Thank you for looking.

Oh my gosh are these guys ever cute! How much work you must have done to do all that cutting! X-press it makes a masking paper? Shopping time again! Love the way you colored them with their fancy coats too! Your cards are always so fun, Susie, and LOVE your images! You have an incredible talent for combining stamps and I love it!

Oh, poor little guys! Thank goodness they are so stylishly bundled up!
So fun, Susie, and so beautifully done, as always! You did a great job with the water droplets, too!

Oh Susie I adore these and always love your description on how you get such fantastic card coloring. The raindrops turned out fantastic in this card. And you always have such a great story for each and every card to bring us all a happy smile. Thank you so much for making such a beautiful card for my challenge. I so loved this challenge and the fantastic cards that have been done for the challenge. Hugs!
