My mum requested a card for an Aunt who's going to be 75.
No problem you should think. Think again...
I had the design already planned in my head, the stamped image was laying around, should be a piece of cake but everything that could go wrong, went wrong with this card!!!
It nearly ended up in the bin.
The card is a tent top card with the top part being a doily design from the Silhouette Design store that I cut in halve, backed this with a yellow layer. Then placed a halve circle of green cardstock in front with the 75 adhered. And then the trouble began, there was an ink smudge on the number 5, I wanted to remove it, but this sucker was too stuck down couldn't get it of without ripping the green part, as this was my last piece of green I decided to leave it and cut out 75 again and doubled this on the card....ppffff, problem solved.
Yeah wright... I began to colour the image, as this was stamped a while ago I didn't remember WHAT ink I used, YES you guest it: the image was smudging!...You might think, no problem E just stamp it again...CANT I loaned the stamp to a friend and she's on holiday for 2 weeks. As I already made the inside of the card with the wording: 75?!?!? that's a lot of candles, you light them and I'll get the fire extinguisher! I so wanted this image to go on my card. Had a look thru my other stamps but no luck to find a substitute, so I took a deep breath returned to the smudged image and with the help of colour pencils, markers and ink and some faux snow paste to cover up most part of the mistake, problem number 2 solved.
The banner and the letters where cut with the Silhouette Cameo, somehow there was a piece of adhesive cardstock stuck in the cutting blade, you guessed it, I got some crooked cuts, and the green cardstock was all finished up, not even a little scrap piece was left, gggrrrrrrr first thing new cutting blade, DONE, second solution was to swap the green for blue cardstock and alternate the colours, DONE.
I strung the banner on to light yellow satin ribbon and adhered the banner with some foam tape. As I was thinking on the rest of the card I layed the card aside and didn't notice I still had a inkpad left open....YEP....the bottom part got a massive ink smudge....At that moment I had it, enough is enough, NO more crafting today!
But after a few minutes I decided to cut of the smudge piece and replaced this with a piece of light blue cardstock, the crooked pieces of 3 green banners cut down, adhered these to the bleu strip and above the seem of the cardstock glued on 2 pieces of bleu ribbon on top of each other, 3 green skittle pebbles where glued with glossy accents.
I wanted to do something as a background, perhaps a little colour sponging? Or some chalk? NO, after all the things that went wrong I decided this card is FINISHED!
Cant risk another thing going wrong, I know it's only paper but sometimes you just have to let go and focus on a new project.
While finishing of this description I just realized that I have a digi stamp that would go perfect with the sentiment I have! Forgot to look at the whole digi file...perhaps for another card , but not today....

I LOVED your description! Forgive me for laughing but you described every card I ever made. There it is, the smudge that came from no where even when conscientious about clean hands. The card is wonderful! IF you do have smudges, congrats on the best cover up job I ever saw. I love the design and I'm sure your aunt will love these funny ladies. The banner looks fabulous with alternating colors! I even love the pastels you used. Thanks again for a chuckle!
