I went over to my friend Christine's (aka calex on SCS) on Saturday and she taught me to use my new Brusho and Bister powders. Such fun and great for mixed media projects.
Friday's Mix-Ability challenge was "Drifting Away" - to make a mixed media card with the theme of our favourite destination. I picked Paris.
My mixed media are embossing paste, Bister, Brusho, and ink.
I sprinkled red and blue (for the French flag) Brusho on coated cs, spritzed it and let the colour grains explode into splotches of colour. I wanted to see what the Bister blue was like so added a smidge of it above the red and blue - Bister is much more muted so came out mostly grey-blue. I heat set it, then stamped the text stamp, the Eiffel Tower, and the postmark/Paris stamp to create a collage. I trimmed it and mounted it a scrap of coated black cs from an advertising flyer. For the background, I used Dreamweaver Glossy Black embossing paste and a flourish stencil (closest stencil I have to a fleur-de-lis) my friend Loll Thompson made for me on her Silhouette. Trimmed that panel and popped it up on a white cardbase.
I'm also adding it to the Mixed Media Challenge blog - the challenge this time is "New" so I've used new supplies.

WOW Susan! What a phenomenal job you did composing your collage! I'd love to be there when you two experimented with the powders! Love the explosion of colors! What fabulous stamps too!

OMG Susan, your mixed media Paris themed card is just amazing! I can just imagine how it is even much more beautiful IRL with all your textures and explosions of color. Love how you used the French Flag colors too. Right into my favorites my friend. TFS

It is so nice to see Bister right against Brusho. Lovely products with a wide variation. This is a great collage piece, and I really love the shine of the black flourish. Thanks so much for playing!
