I made this for this weeks Free For All Challenge, F4A246 One Layer Plus (11/7/14). The challenge was to make a one-layer card with added embellishments but no extra layers of paper.
Single layer cards are out of my comfort range, so taking on the challenge to use only one layer sort of gave me the shivers! So much so that I flubbed stamping the image so badly that I had to flip the card inside out and cover up the flub on the inside with colored cs layer....Oy!...hopefully, this doesnt disqualify me from the challenge, because I DID honor the One Layer limit on the front! So much for full disclosure, now onto the card deets....
I inked the rubber on the pine bough with small Memento ink pads and a SU marker pen. To fill the empty space at the bottom of the card front, I used a fun border ef by Darice that has tiny birds on a wire. I lightly sponged the raised embossing with SU Baked Brown Sugar, ditto for the edges of the card front. The linen thread was attached by stitching through the card front and tying off. To finish, I added a couple of small wood veneer birds, to carry the Birdie Theme through the card.
Thanks for taking the time to peek at my birds in the Ornamental Pine.

Love this! You absolutely met the one layer challenge and nailed it. I share your discomfort with using only one layer, but this card is absolutely perfect. Love all the special details, tying in the birds, sponging. TFS
