I made this card for the clean & simple challenge to make a Christmas card using a non-traditional image or colors that were non-traditional. I included both ideas in my card. While at a women's crafting retreat last week a friend loaned me this train stamp. I stamped the image and brought it home to use at a later date. It didn't sit idle for long! I colored the trees with a Tombow marker and watercolored the snow and sky with distress ink. To dress it up for Christmas, I stamped, colored, and die cut the poinsettia (leaving white space to create a mat), added a ribbon, some bling, and glitter to the smoke.

Wonderful winter scene - so nicely stamped and coloured. Like that blue poinsettia - just so different and matches in so well with the theme of the card.

okay Kate, now i need to know, where were you last weekend. I was at a stamping retreat in Door County, WI. Were you there? We used an image like this from Northwoods Rubber stamps. I love it and have this image or one very similar.

Love the vintage feel you achieved by pairing the soft faded turquoise color with the wall-paper like stamp you used for the background and the old-time locomotive. The smoke curling from the engine looks real, I never would have thought to use a glitter to accent it - good idea! TFS this fun, non-traditional holiday card!
