This is such a sad, sad Teaparty. Our cards are going to a little 6 year old boy, Jayden. Jayden survived a horrific car accident, while he was not hurt physically he sat three feet from his mother as she was pinned by a vehicle and his little 2 year old sister died. We have been asked to send kid-friendly happy cards, with no mention of the accident.
Unfortunately there was no cheater email again and the challenge went live late last evening (my time). I want to get this in the post today so there is no chance to do a stair step card. I hope Jayden will like all the bright and happy colours on this card, plus a squirrel driving a car is pretty funny, I think.
The background was done with distress inks and water. This is not my usual smack and squirt technique, instead I dragged a green distress ink pad across the bottom of the foil, then being careful not to contaminate ink pads, I dragged an orange ink pad and finished with blue. I then lightly spritzed on some water then laid the cardstock carefully on the inky stripes. The coverage was not 100%, so I spritzed more water onto the foil and laid the cardstock back down. Some of the yellow had moved into the blue, that is where the green in the sky came from LOL.
I flicked drops of water onto the card and immediatly blotted the card - this is what gives the big light blob effect. If you let the drops dry naturally, it is quite a different look. The image is a digi image and coloured with distress inks and Izink. The little squirrel was coloured with Copics. I added a bit of drywall tape to the car grill. Only the car is adhered to the card, the squirrel and key have 3D foan tape behind them, as does the banner.

Wonderful card for Jayden! Your inky bkgrd is, as always, terrific. The wind-up car with the squirrel driving is priceless and sure to bring a smile to this little boy. I like the drywall grill, too cool. Bless you for your kind heart, Susie!

Susie, as the mom of 2 boys who were once 6, I think this is a perfect card to brighten Jayden's day. You can't help smiling when you see your brignt colors and cute rodent driving a car. You can create a great card no mater what the challenge calls for...I have to go dig through all my flower stamps searching for something close to a truck.

Susie, you once again created a spectacular background! How I love the look of the watermarks! The image is one to make anyone smile and you colored it beautifully! Now I'm off to see what Izink is! I learn a whole lot from your cards!

Oh Susie, this is fantastic. He will love this. I am hoping to get mine done tonight and in the mail...as long as I get my tool in the mail today...crossing fingers....if not then I will need to run to the store to see if I can find a car stamp...I need more stamps and this would be a great reason for me to get one. You did a great job on this one for Jayden.

Oh Susie, for sure he will just love this. It put a BIG smile on my face this morning. Your little squirrel or mouse or whatever in his clockwork car is just enchanting.
