CONGRATS to our new FS, Jacquie J! Terrific gallery full of inspiration. I choose to case this card. I made it a layered card and used multiple colors and die cuts. I kept the basic design but added a second layer to my three strips of sponged color. Used a different (kind/style) of tree and instead of a banner, I used the die cut trick or treaters. It was FUN to make!
My second bkgrd layer was inspired by this tablecloth at The Christmas Tree Shop, yesterday's IC site. With multiple SU and MFT inks, I stenciled the Halloween words as a second bkgrd layer. I used two three inks to sponge the edges. I die cut the tree* and trick or treaters and adhered. Stamped unknown branc sentiment on the inside and decorated it and the ep.
This card is also for last week's WT498 to use a tree and the prior week's WT497 to stencil.
*Tree* To make the corrugated tree, I cut a pc of a cardboard box and peeled off one side to expose the corrugated surface. I die cut the tree. I peeled the remaining layers until the the tree was thin (left about two layers.) I like to do this to keep the card as flat as possible for mailing and to keep the weight down to avoid extra postage. I used my "old"** vintage photo distress ink (less bold application) to distress it.
**OLD DISTRESS PADS**I have duplicates of several distress pads. When they are no longer inky enough to use to stamp clear images, I use them to stamp faded images or shadows, and/or direct to paper, or with a sponge to get that subtle, faded look. You can also use it to stamp the shape of the pad as a solid but faded bkgrd, which saves applying your ink to an acrylic block or stamp. I also do this to conserve my fresh ink pad. Using the old pad, you don't have to "stamp off your stamp" or "swipe off your sponge" to get the amt of ink on either that you want.
THANKS for looking!
