After going through a very dry few weeks creative-wise where all I did was make a mess in my Craft Room with nothing to show for it, I finally found Mr Mojo again and made this card for my Mum's 84th birthday which is in a few days. Mum is one of my biggest fans and a great encourager of my cardmaking so I wanted to make a really special card for her.
The paper tole image (called 3D decoupage if you are in the UK) is by Craft Creations and is called 'Birds in Blossom' and came already diecut. I layered the image up using dimensionals (which was very time consuming with all the fine stems!). I used a Cheery Lynn Centre Step Card die (sorry - no longer available) which I bought a year ago at a Craft Show in Australia. I am useless at measuring things so would have no hope at making my own Stair Step Card which is why I have a die! I have a suggestion for an alternative die and a website link and other suggestions on my blog post (see the link at the end of this write-up). The die is very long so you need an extended Platform and longer Plates if you are using a Big Shot. The main image was taller than the actual diecut card centre panel but it didn't matter and the card still folds up flat (other than the layering sticking up a little of course). All the designer paper layers are from the Graphic 45 8" x 8" pad 'Botanical Tea' and I stuck them down onto a white cardstock diecut (Centre) Stair Step-Card base.
The sentiment was popped up on dimensionals and I added Stampin' Up! Dazzling Diamonds glitter glue to all the flower centres. Lastly, I added a pink heart Sparklet to the bottom right-hand side. I didn't really want to do anything more fancy as I just wanted to let the image shine. I did actually go around the blue panels with Polar Blue ink to hide any white cardstock that was showing and as the blue paper layer around the sentiment was handcut, the inking hid any imperfections in my cutting.
I am also popping this card into the SCS Technique Lover's TLC190 Challenge of Stair Step Card from ages ago as this is my FIRST EVER Stair Step Card! I am such a chicken at trying to make a card that isn't just a simple centre-fold card (yay me - even if I did use a die LOL). You can find more details on the challenge at this link here ----> TLC190 Stair Step Fold {10/13/08} by Lynn in St. Louis at Splitcoaststampers
Thanks for having a peek at my card! Please come and peek at my blog - this link will take you directly to my blog post ----> http://instead-of-ironing.blogspot.c...-card-for.html I have more detailed and close-up photos.

I did get a chuckle when I read the title of your blogspot- "instead-of-ironing". My sentiments exactly! TYFS

This is a beautiful card - it looks like fine porcelain china! I love the soft green background and the profusion of flowers for the birds to perch in. Also, it was a great idea to add the sentiment as a separate element - it fits but it allows the porcelain look to shine. Lovely work!

Hi Jo! Love the way this image melts into the background and delicately emerges off the base with your careful dimensional skills. As the poster above said it looks like fine porcelain. A stunning card which your mother will love.
