I have wanted to make something with my pearlized ivory paper for some time and when I saw the lamp shade in this inspiration site, I decided to make my birthday card with it.
Like the beautiful satiness of this lampshade the sheen of the pearl paper just doesn't come through in the photograph and it looks like just ordinary ivory paper!
This is my HAPPY accidents card. I was pressed for time to get this finished and wasn't paying attention when I embossed the frame and the first side came out de-bossed and I liked it and so I did the other side the same way. It also turned out with some lines from the EF, and I first tried covering them with a ribbon treatment...ewwww...NOT! Then...I found this Memory Box die and decided to cut some pieces from it to cover the lines. I stamped my sentiment too high...What to put in the blank space?...wallla...the pearl treatment happened! This butterfly (Crafty Ann) has an open body, even the head!Even the pearls for the body didn't want to stick!...How do I anchor it with out it showing?...I dig around and find the body that has fallen SOMEWHERE when I die cut it and I try to glue it back in...nothing to glue it to! SO I have to cut out a solid piece to adhere to the back that looks half way decent... I am so glad you can't see the back side of this beautiful butterfly...talk about hooking the thing-a-ma-jig to the thing-a-ma-bob! :-)
This card is for one of the ladies who works at the local Scrapbook store whom I have become friends with. Christine is a wonderful artist and creates many beautiful cards herself. I had so much fun making this card for her.... laughing as each HAPPY accident turned this card in to one of MY all time favorites.
Thanks for coming to see my birthday card for this lovely lady!

Oh my! I wish the muse of Happy Accidents would light on my shoulder! This is a gorgeous card! That butterfly die is amazing but isn't interesting that the die designers sometimes don't think of the practicalities? Maybe they think we are all as creative as you! :-) Love your card. I bet the recipient does too.

The debossing is the first thing that caught my eye on this beauty Peggy! Don't you just LOVE when playing, messing up and it works out to be the best? WOW! To think all the embellishments were hiding things that happened! It looks so carefully planned out! This IS incredible and so beautifully designed! Your story about this is as delightful as this amazing card. Right into favorites!

Oh, my, Peggy, what a fun card after reading how it all "came together" in the end! It's stunning, and I LOVE that butterfly! And if people EVER saw what is under our cards, they would be amazed! LOL! In the end, it was a journey well worth the traveling! So glad to see the end result and to read about how it all came about! Surely it will be greatly loved by your scrapbook friend! Hugs, sweet friend! It's always a delight to see your beauties!

Oooh, Peggy I really like the look of de-bossing. Sometimes happy accidents are the best aren't they? We learn and say to ourselves - hey, I like that! I've gotten to a point that I'm less afraid to try something new and share, even if it isn't the norm for others. Keep stretching your boundaries. Lovely card that will be received with joy.
