This is for MIX77 - Patched. This was a really fun challenge - to use scraps to create a patchwork design representing our past. I decided to do a card with "patches" made of DP and book paper, because those two things are recent additions to my process and have added so much to it. (I used leftover scraps, so the card references past projects.) I also wanted to ink some parts of it by using a spray since I have recently started playing with making my own misters using reinkers. And I wanted to use sequins as my embellishment, since it's also a recent happy "discovery" for me. There's not much to explain here about how this card was made because I think it's pretty obvious. I will say that I know this is not really very mixed-media. I had planned to use acrylic paint and gel pen on it, but when I got to this point in the lay-out phase, I just couldn't bring myself to add anything else, it seemed resolved and done and ready to glue down. So I almost didn't put it in the gallery. But then I decided that it belonged here anyway because it was entirely the result of the interesting challenge that ky (Scrapacat) put out for us.
Thanks for looking!

This is great! You really captured the challenge concept well. Love the book paper, the sketch you used and your fun details. Wonderfully done!

What a delightful layout on this, Robin! I LOVE it! Your patterned paper works so well together and your focal panel is such an eye catcher! Beautifully done!

I'm always fascinated by book pages, reading them and wondering what they are all about. Your text flowers are a great choice to go with it! I think those little "spiral" sequins are my favourite sort; I have some from about ten years ago that I am very reluctant to use up, whereas I don't mind using the other sort at all.

I love that you built this on the book page and those circle sequins are way cool. I love that the patches are not all just you know square patches that even the negative wordy blooms and such look patched into the design.

Can you hear me clapping? Yes ma'am, your card is mixed media! Paper, ink, sequins, book text, dies... I think it's perfect right like that. Those sequins are unique - I've not seen round embossed ones. They look metallic. Thanks so much for playing my Mix-Ability challenge, and most of all for sharing your work even if you don't think it quite fits. We're all learning!
