First and foremost, I'm entering this in the Just Us Girls Challenge #248. The word this week is 'bird'. That was easy enough! I have billions of birds! But I wanted to take a tiny step out of my comfort zone and begin working on that vintage, heavily layered look I absolutely love and have NO idea how to achieve. I started with sticky canvas and used versa mark to ink my Rubbernecker Stamps Morning Glory background stamp. Then I heat embossed. I took my blending tools and worked Dusky Concord, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade into the cloth. When I was finished, I placed a piece of copy paper over it and ironed off the embossing powder for the batik look. I added the bird picture, lace, ribbon and some great flowers I ordered from Etsy and finished it off. It's not nearly as fabulous as the cards I love but it's not a bad first step!

I love the batik technique and your background turned out just fabulous. I have not done this in a long time so this is an inspiration for me. It seems as though you have done a lot of this style as this card is as beautiful as the rest. I really like it.
