This is for the WT486 to use balloons, and the MIX75 to use repetition....I might have stretched the definition for the MIX challenge since I did not stamp something multiple times, but I sure did repeat the black and white lines. I have a lot of quotes and sayings that I like bouncing around in my head. Since they are not written down, I don't always get them exactly right. The words on this canvas say, "when I took the leap I feared I would fall...instead I learned I could fly". The WT486to use balloons made me think of flying, which made me think of this quote. I first covered the canvas with gelatoes in light and darker blues and mixed with a paint brush. Blocked out the areas for the sun, girl and words with gesso applied with my finger. Applied more gelatoes using yellow, orange, lavender and green. I used black pens and white acrylic paints for the border, and white gel pen for the words. One thing about creative pieces is that you don't have to follow rules. I love to mix upper and lower case letters in the same word. I drew the girl since none of my thousands of stamps worked. I fussy cut her clothes and drew the rest of her and the balloons with prisma pencild and gamisol. Lots of mess and time...I'll stick to cards for awhile. This urge to do a canvas only hits about every 6 months...I am surely over it now. Have a wonderful week and TFL.

WOW...love this!!! I love the black and white border and the lettering and the corner sun doodle...fabulous! I appreciate the words you used and also your non apologetic approach to art..you don't have to follow all the rules..I agree! I also agree with you about doing a canvas..I like to do that every now and then but it takes me forever! Great job on this Francie!

I think your canvas is amazing! I carefully read all your instructions should the urge ever strike me, but although I have painted a couple of canvases, cards are so much quicker and I haven't painted for a few years now. I laughed when you explained that none of your thousands of stamps was right for the 'girl' spot - so true!

What a great piece of art this is Francie. I love the beautiful mix of blues and pinks in the sky. Thanks for the great descriptions of your processes; the gelato/gesso mix is a great idea. I don't have even a bit of your creativity but I surely do love looking at your creations. So nice!

I. Am. So. IMPRESSED. A shout out for your talent and creativity! Not in my wildest dreams could I do something like this free hand! It would make a great card.. and it would $ell!
I used to buy cards like this before I started making them! In fact I still have a drawer full that I bought and couldn't part with! When I die my kids will throw them in the trash! :-) I digress.... this surely will be framed, right? Just reading your details wore me out.... you birthed a winner girlfriend!!! Faved FOR SURE...
