Rosalia gave us a terrific challenge this week – make a card inspired by a Billy Joel song. Our cards are going to Susan from California. Sue has very serious health battles; I hope our cards bring some sunshine to her day. Sue is a city girl and we have been told she loves all forms of art, a little turquoise blue, music and cats.
This card is weird even by my standards but I figure Picasso was considered weird in his day and we have been told Sue appreciates ‘art’. The song I have chosen is “Rosalinda’s Eyes", the title remained me of our own Rosalia’s name. I have just come back from craft camp where each night we sung our little hearts out. I think my ears might bleed if I ever hear Piano Man sung by 30 wayward women ever again.
Rosie is a Dylusions stamp (borrowed from a friend), I added googly eyes and a few stamped images. The little stamped buildings down the bottom represent a city skyline (RAK from our very own Miss Kathleen Lammie from Alabama), washi tape piano keys and a birds-in-the-tree stamp. I donÂ’t have cat stamps so I figured birds were the next best thing.
The background was made by scribbling blue and green strips of Gelatos then blending with a baby wipe. After the card stock was dry I sponged similar coloured distress inks over it. I spritzed a “script” stamp with water then stamped into the coloured paper, that didn’t work so well, so I added a smidgeon of ink then stamped it again.
Rosie is coloured with Copics and Wink of Stella pens and I randomly used a white paint pen to add some highlighted details.
I wonÂ’t be at next weeks teaparty, DH and I are hitting the road for about 10 days in our little caravan. Same rules apply as last timeÂ….internet and toiletsÂ….. I am taking a little bit of craft stuff but chances that it will suite the next challenge will be slim. That wonÂ’t stop me from commenting, so one way or the another I will see you all next week. xxx

Susie, I love your card and Sue will, too. This is so fun! You have certainly mastered using Gelatos, I tried, you have inspired me to try again. Thank you for your kindness.
Rosalia
PS When I was a little girl the man downstairs used to call me Rosalinda - I hadn't thought of that in years - thanks for the memory. Hugs.

Move over Picasso...there's a new girl in town. Another awesome creation, Susie. You master so many different styles. This is one of those cards that you keep coming back to in order to enjoy all the little details. Great colors and design. Enjoy your driving trip!!!

Ah - if only we could come and visit, then DH would sing Piano Man to you and you would love it!! Such a fun and quirky card, I bet Sue just loves this! I like all the little extras you've fitted in - the cityscape, the crossword, the piano keys.

WEIRD??? Bah! She'll love it! I love it! It's perfect. Besides, you DO realize the lengths you'd have to go through to be weird in THIS group, right??? ;)
