This is my 2nd card for this weekÂ’s CC480. Barbara Joyce is our guest hostess for the next 4 months and for her debut she chose red, white and blue. Our dessert option is stars.
For this card I did a mixed media piece following the mix-ability 69 “faux tile” challenge. We were to pick 3 colors of paint-I chose Ranger distress chipped sapphire, fired brick and a white acrylic. I cover my mixed media paper with bold strokes of the blue and red.
I used an MFT die to cut some chevrons and taped them to my card. Over the chevrons I laid some some drywall tape. I painted my white acrylic over that. This became my “grout”. I like the texture that the painters tape gave. I was going after a flag look and I think I captured that with my bg.
My images and sentiment are a stamp set from Flourishes “patriotism on parade”. I die cut a red frame and stars to complete my card.
ThatÂ’s my sample for this week. Hope you can play along with us this week. You may be our next CC fave of the week and have your card featured on our Pinterest color challenge board. See board here.

I am so impressed with the job you've done with the mixed media. You created a really special and unique card. Love the stamped image of the celebrants, too.

Oh wow, Mary. Yes, you did capture the essence of the flag with this background. I love that stamp, too. Perfect accompaniment for the holiday. Thank you so much for playing the Mix-ability challenge!

Those chevrons over the tile are wonderful! The image of the children is one of my favorites!
