WooHoo it’s Teapot Tuesday. The gremlins in cyber space gave us Teapotters so grief this week and we had to wait for the challenge to go ‘live’..no cheating!! Our challenge is to bring some Peace, Love and Lava Lamps to Lesley of Edmonton, Canada. I hope our cards bring some sunshine and smiles to Lesley.
I tried to create a lava lamp but I am thinking it looks more tie-dyed. There is terrific challenge at TLC477 this week called Pointillism, I havenÂ’t really done enough dots to be true dot art, but I was inspired never the less!!
This background was created by spraying several Dylusions ink sprays on a large sheet of tin foil (saves cleaning my fancy ink mat – just throw the foil out when you finish). I digress, after spraying some ink, I spritzed the inks with water.
Next step, take a piece of card stock and swish/dab it through the ink/water. Check the card and turn around and redip into the ink puddle until you have the coverage desired. Stop here to get this smooth effect.
On other cards where I have used the Dylusions inks, I spritzed the finished inky cardstock with more water – it gives a great rainy sort of blotchy look. If you want an even soft finish, leave out this step like I did here.
This is heaps of fun to do but it is very messy. I tried to remove the ink from my hands by using a cut lemon dipped in sugar (I read that somewhere). ROTFIA …..this is my new acronym for Rolling On The Floor In Agony……I completely forgot about the 2” cut on the palm of my hand. That is a long story involving a very sharp knife and a butternut pumpkin. It seemed to happen in slow motion and I could hear my Mother saying “Don’t cut toward yourself Susan”. Oh that conversation took place in my head, Ma lives in the big retirement village in the sky.
Thank you for looking and have a wonderful day. I off to post this now.

Oh Susie!! Ouch! I can feel your pain my friend...lemon in a cut!!! Oh NO! But, your card is gorgeous!! Love your bg the way you did it....I have to try that aluminum foil thing! Oh, try just washing your hair after to get inky hands clean! Works every time for me even with alcohol inks and stains! Love the butterfly and white trail, it has such a nice contrast to your bg!

Beautiful colours Susie! I'd love to try some dylusions ink sprays, but I need to use up he sprays I presently have first.
You certainly do lead an interesting (but dangerous0 life Susie! Always fun to read about your misadventures. Hope your hand heals soon.

This is an amazing look! I've just recently been seeing these dylusional inks and what a pretty mess thet make. I wear rubber gloves when I know I'm gonna make a big mess! Like one time I dyed ribbon with an ink pad.... I have have used my stamp cleaner on my hands with success. I digress.
This is really pretty. I like the butterfly trail and the stenciling. This will bring a smile to Lesley. Too bad she doesn't know you like we do b/c she'd have a really BIG smile like I do now!

LOL, I never get the cheater email so we were all on a level playing-field this week. And like you, I need to allow extra mailing time!
Lava lamp or tie-dye, either sounds perfect for the 60's. I love the white dots on it.
Lemon juice in a cut - ouch and ouch!

Your back grounds are stunning. Reading the process involved, it sound like such fun. Hope your rinsed the lemon juice off right away, but I can only image how that would sting.

Such amazing results you get with your wonderful technique! Robin is right... a good hair washing usually gets rid of all the ink stains...makes one think we should just get out the shampoo to clean our hands! Love your butterfly trail in the white paint dots and Love your stencil work! BE-U-TI-FUL colors today my friend!
