I wanted to play along with the current IO challenge to use green, so I decided to make a second sample for this week's TLC challenge, No-line piercing. I'd been thinking a butterfly would work well with this technique.

So - I stamped the butterfly on the back of my watercolour card and then pierced all round it, including some of the wing detailing. I also freehanded a couple of trails.
I turned it over, masked the butterfly and stamped Flourishes with Versamark and embossed with clear EP, then sponged with green.
For starters I wet the butterfly and coloured with green reinkers but it wasn't strong enough, so I added more contrast by painting in some Perfect Pearls in green and copper, mixed with a few drops of water.
For the base, I stamped Script in Smokey Grey on white card, but it was still stronger than I wanted so I gessoed over it, and then sponged with Stormy Grey. I added a sentiment from the same clear set, and stamped a trail with Stickles, continuing from one of the pierced trail lines. Corners punched and decorated with Liquid Pearls, mounted on green Bazzill, added the lace and then stuck to the card base.

Not an easy image to pierce! Love the bg and the lace.

I can't decide which of your beautiful creations I like best. What a great use of the corner punch. I am getting new ideas all the time. The piercing technique gives the butterfly such nice texture. P.S. to watercolor with the markers you "ink" each tiny leaf or flower stamp with marker and go over it with just a little water on a tiny brush after it has been stamped.
