A while back I'd seen a birthday card of the same basic layout except it had the DSP as little pennants hanging across the lower portion, no ribbon, and the Happy Birthday across the top. It was lovely and got me thinking, so I turned it upside down, added ribbon, and made the pennants into birthday candles with flames. I don't know whose design it was, but thanks for the inspiration!
Used the wing of the bird punch for the 'flames', edged with with So Saffron and popped them up with dimensionals. Also cut the Whisper White in 2 sections, the lower was stamped and placed on the Basic Black layer. The strips of DSP were placed at different heights and the excess wrapped underneath for a smooth edge, then when placed on the black layer, I left a little gap of black for more pop.

Clever adaptation and a terrific card. Love the bright colors popped against the bright white and (my favorite) a touch of black to really bring it together. Into my faves!

I really like how the elements could be easily and quickly reproduced to make a last minute birthday card. Love the paper choices and colors...bright and cheerful!
