Today Sabrina wanted stars on our cards. I was inspired by a phone call from and old friend.....details....
We were reminiscing about a backpack trip we took with another girlfriend many many moons ago. The three of us and two dogs set off on a five mile trip up in the Colorado mountains.
We had the best time. Ate the best food, no freeze dried stuff for us. Plus, when we left our campsite it was well stocked with wood for the next backpacker. Those were the days, not to be repeated.
So I made this card for my friend. I used a Mo's Digital image, one of my favorites, and drew the scene around it.
Coloring was done with a combination of Sharpie & Bic markers, w/c pencils, chalk pastel pencils and a gel pen. The white dots were made with a stylus and white acrylic paint.
The stars were traced from a very old SU stencil that I paid way to much for on eBay back when I didn't quite understand the bidding process. BUT that is another story. hehe
Well, hope my friend likes her card. She just had a knew shoulder put in/on?...plus a new hip back in December. We definitely won't be backpacking any time soon. hehe....TFL :0)

charming and ripe with meaning! And those stars...what perfect whimsy for your style...however much you paid was worth it, Mut! And the Mo's...her adorable sleeping bag guy and best friend goes perfectly with your style!
And as for your friend liking it...just the fact she's your friend is truth enough! I am lovin' it

This is so adorable Cathy!! I remember the times of camping and sleeping outdoors with great fondness. There is just something so special about sleeping under that vast sky of stars. I'm sure your friend will love receiving this and remembering the times you shared.

Super sweet card and story! She will love this! Even in my younger days I would be too scared to sleep outside in CO! There are BEARS and MOUNTAIN LIONS not to mention all the creepy crawly bugs and snakes! Yeah my idea of camping would be at a lodge in the mountains! I need doors, walls, a bed, and a bath! I'm such a girly girl! But I do love looking up at the night sky and seeing all the stars! I see the little dipper all the time!

Love, love this, Cathy. Look at you with your dog tucked in beside you, enjoying the starry night. The French expression for sleeping outdoors in the open is "to sleep with/under (the actual preposition normally translates as at, but it doesn't work in English!) the beautiful stars" and you have so totally captured this here. Brings back memories for me too of sleeping out under the stars in the South of France. It would never get warm enough here, LOL. I'm glad the conversation with your friend sparked with the challenge to create such a sweet meaningful card.
OH! I think your friend is going to love this!!! My DH and I used to backpack. He still does, but I dropped out! This is a fabulous creation your friend is sure to love! I hope she recovers quickly!
