Took a class awhile back from Donna Downey on Pan Pastels but didn't try it until today. Guess I was scared. hehe Today I went back and re-watched her video and gave it a shot......details...
This tree, which reminds me of the movie Beetle Juice, was included as a download in her class so I re-sized it to fit my card. Used Pan Pastels for the leaves. Punched out the hearts coloring them with PP.
Drew the little "heart" birdie because what would a Mutnik card be without something hand drawn on it. hehe
Added the dry wall tape so this would work for the MIX challenge. Also added a few extra hearts making one yellow to add more color. Done.
I totally enjoyed using the PP and plan on trying them again real soon.
Haven't shared a story in awhile and since this one is about "hearts" here goes......when my nephew was really young he had to have his "heart" X-rayed. When the doctor showed him the picture he became really sad. We asked him what was wrong and his reply was, "my heart doesn't have a point on it". He thought that was what his problem was. Oh how little minds think. He is now in his 40's and doing fine.
Have a great weekend all. We are getting some much needed rain here and snow in the mountains. Yahoo!!!......TFL :0)
Hi Sis!
P.S......go here to see how One4Joy used an actual heart stamp. hehe

What a cute little story!! Kids are the sweetest and come up with some of the funniest innocent things. Your tree reminds me of a zebra tree. - (not that I know of such a thing.) I love your bright red and green and all of your happy hearts. Magnificent card my friend. :>)

Wow, you must be at the head of the class for this awesome card! My pan pastels are sitting in the drawer because I am afraid to use them, so I understand your reluctance but wow...this is just amazing! This fab card so reminds me of Beetlejuice...love it!

Great card, Cathy! Cool striped tree and the hearts are fantastic, love the colors. Sweet birdie and story, too. I've never worked with pan pastels before. I'll have to check them out.

oh, Mut...what a heart warming story regarding your nephew (out of the mouth of babes, right???) And your card...spectacular as always! You know I am one of your biggest fans.
I am always, always amazed at the he{art} that comes from your hands. And I just discovered Donna from a blog hop to another to 'somehow' I ended up on her blog. LOVE her videos and I would love to take her 48 weeks some year. Then I could truly be a REAL artist! How fun you used the tree and techniques you learned from one of her workshops. (maybe we should take a road trip/class/visit with AR package sometime)?
Love the heart birdie and the yellow heart...and thank you for linking to my heart....
hugs

As usual, I have NO IDEA of the technique or accessories you used! But you being a true artist KNOW all this and so much more! The zebra tree caught my eye first, didn't recognize as one of yours until I clicked for a closer look, but of course its gorgeous as are all your creations!
Love your stories as much as your cards! TFS!
