fun challenge to day to make things look 3d with only base layer. Right away I thought of using my new stamp with the wood bg...fun way to commission it. I wanted to make a guy card to have on hand, and thought of making it into a big ole wooden door.
I used painter tape to maske of the big hinge, stamped the bg and then took the tape off and just tpaed down scrap paper and turned the stamp the other direction and used a different brown and then stamped in the center, then covered that part with the scrap paper again first the top part then the bottom and stamped in silhouette, the leaves. Kind of wanted a smaller happy birthday but my smaller ones more girly and this one kind of looked like wood to so tried it. Not bad but just touched edge so not sure how to fix ...maybe not too bad...or might try card again, but late now...what do you think?...maybe break challenge rule later and add a small layer, like a small tag to look like wood...hmmm to restamp it...shhhh...;0)...thanks for the visit...:0)...HUGS

Great use of stamps to depict different grains of wood and give depth and definition to this b'day card, Wendy. With its colors and design, it would be great for either sex.

Wendy, this is a fantastic Guy card. Love the different shades and different direction you used for your wood grain giving it a layered look. The ivy is a perfect touch.

Hey neighbor! This is a great for the challenge...love the hinges and that wood grain is superb. I think I would resist the urge to fix it! We are our own worst critics, aren't we!
