Well, I did start laying this out on Thursday evening, but then got distracted by a family crisis. I haven't slept much since then, but I thought I'd relax a little by spending some time in my craft room. Thursday's WTC was to do a card in either warm or cool colors to reflect you outdoor temps. Well, Connecticut hasn't eeeked up to even the 20's for days now. So I went with a cool colors. I also spent some time a few days ago watching a Mixed Media on canvas video and was inspired as well, by that. The main image piece and the greeting were things I have had sitting in my scrap pile forever. I had colored the image previously with colored pencils, but the flowers were pink, so I went back and added some blue pencil to take them to violet. I just received the Decorative Lattice Die and decided it would work with the vintage feel of the image. I needed to go with a square card to fit these elements. I cut a square piece of Lovely Lilac CS and then added texture with a texture plate since that is the only thing I had large enough to do a 5 1/4" square. Initially I sponged on just more Lilac ink to deepen the embosssed image, but then I found an old patterned paper that looked like aged metal ceiling tiles. I almost went with that instead, but decided to use it's inspiration instead. I sponged on lots of ink in Cocoa and NQN. I brushed on frost white shimmer paint (after all it really is cold here), then distressed the panel with a sanding block and then sponged more colored ink and vanilla craft ink to age it. I also sponged the Decorative die cut and then sprayed it with gold Smooch spray. The flower was something I'd made months ago when I was playing with my Tattered Floral die and some instructions for Coffee Filter Flowers. This flower was a kind of dusty rose, so I sprayed it with some NQN reinker mixed with water. I layered and added a brad, the fleur de lis and some micro beads and pearls. This panel was adhered to a folded NQN card. What do you think?
