I'm a bookaholic, caught the disease from my grandfather who was a book collector, amongst other things. I have a nicer copy of this book, but could I find it this morning? Oh no, not in my Christmas book box (I have two boxes full). I'm sure it will turn up eventually.
Everyone knows Dickens's A Christmas Carol but not many have read it. I love Dickens and especially this story. The perfect example of redemption, no matter how awful a person has been. Actually Scrooge is a pretty sorry, sad man, not really evil, just sick at heart and soul.
After creating the Distress ink background, I embossed it, rubbed the paper white ink over that to add some white 'frost' and painted a layer of the glitter glue on the snow (of course it didn't photograph). Bless you all.

Illustrated by Rackham - what a treat that book must be picture-wise as well as to read. (Yep, I've read it about 3 times at least!). Your distress panel is just beautiful - I love those purples and the added hint of frost and snow.

Arthur Rackham is one of my favorite illustrators with his dark colors!! Wonderful redemptive story. I remember reading it the first time, and being frightened!

I agree with Sandie..your card captures the bleak color of the sky of that place and period and the added sparkle shows the frostiness of winter. Fabulous interpretation of A Christmas Carol!

That's what I love about this story too, the theme of redemption, and you've put a lot of heart into this creation portraying it - beautifully atmospheric and the sentiment makes the inspiration behind it instantly recognizable!
