This week's Merry Monday challenge is to use the chalkboard technique on a Christmas card. This was a real challenge for me as I've only done it once before and it has never really appealed to me as a look so it was hard to think of something where I'd like my finished card. But surprisingly, I actually enjoyed doing the technique and I'm happy with the result.
I had the perfect ink too - Hero Arts chalk ink in a colour called "Snow". I stamped my image and sentiment with it and heat embossed both with white embossing powder. I took my Versamarker and added dots for snowflakes and then heat embossed them in white. I didn't use my embossing buddy and ended up with specks of white on the card which I liked so much that I decided to randomly sprinkle on more white ep - I heated it from underneath so that it didn't blow off the cardstock. It made a nice look of blowing snow.
As a final step, I used my finger in the Hero Arts ink and smudged along the bottom edge for a sense of the snowy ground the sleigh was travelling on.
It's also for September's SCS Christmas Card Challenge to have falling snow on the card.
