For the MIX35 challenge, dizzymommie asked us "Can I have a tissue, please" We are to use tissue paper to make some texture on our cards.
I had a little of this light yellow tissue paper with the holly and berries. I crumpled it into a ball, opened it and layed it onto to a light weight piece of cardboard (already had a layer of Mod Podge on it). Then I dried with my craft dryer. Then I used some brown acryllic paint, I watered it down so you could still see the leaves and berries. To lighten it even a little more, I laid down a paper towel over it. That is how I ended up with the horizontal brown lines. Sorry I covered most of it, but I have been wanting to use that poinsettia flower I added chalk to the edges and to the leaves. The glittery gold ribbon is from Michaels. Thanks for taking a peek!
note- I have had very limited time in my craft room this week. My Mom turned 82 and I took her places three days in a row and my son came up for the weekend! I am feeling blessed, but please be patient with me. Thank you so much for understanding!

Wow, Kathleen, I love how this turned out! The paper is gorgeous and the brown paint with the lines gives it a real vintage feel. Beautiful poinsettia, too.
Understand having limited craft time - since school started I think I'm lucky enough to have enough brains left for one challenge a week!
Hope your mom had a happy birthday, and enjoy your son's visit!

WOW! That is one, awesome background! It looks so vintage and love the tinting on the poinsettia! Whatever the paper towel did, it looks perfect! Your cards are always amazing!

Wow, another stunner my friend. Kathleen this is amazing, thanks for such a detailed description. It sounds way too complicated for me so I shall have to be content with saving this to My Favs. Gosh I love it!!!
