Thank you Toni for the perfect challenge this week - WT437 - Custom Matting.
My card today is a special one. One I didn't think I might ever make. So please forgive me if I'm a bit emotional.
How do we say thank you to our Heavenly Father for a gift so precious as life? For prayers answered? January 2012 we found ourselves surprised, thankful, and excited over the news and gift our families would receive.
Today we rejoice again as our sweet grandson, Theodore Ezra John (Teddy), turns 1 year old! Praise be to the giver of every perfect gift.
I wanted to create a soft, sweet card for him. As soft as his Teddy Bear, Walter T. Bunny, and Lambie. I didn't want ribbon or embellishments. I just wanted the focal image to be the message. Gentlest Kiss by Penny Black was my choice. I used the "No line Stamping technique" by stamping the image in a very soft color, Desert Sand, by Memento. Then I used my Grumbacher opaque watercolors to give a light watercolor wash. After it was dried I used some Prismacolor pencil here and there for added brightness and interest. The nice thing about watercolor is: it doesn't have to be prefect (I like that). The beautiful sentiment from Sweet n Sassy, "I'll love you until the day after forever" from the set, Love Sentiments graces the outside card. As soon as I saw it I knew it was the one. The inside sentiment is his birthday greeting.
For my matting I used Spellbinders Nestabilities A2 Matting basics A. Ladies, I love these dies. They are perfect for executing the prefect mats. This is a larger card and measures: top fold 5 3/4 x 4 1/2. Because there are no embellishments on this card it will go through the mail easy peasy.
In a few hours we'll come together again to celebrate, give thanks, and rejoice in the blessing of a 1st birthday. We are two families brought together not by chance, but by design. Thanks be to the giver of every perfect gift. Our hearts are full.

You've certainly made this so soft with the "no lines" stamping - I wondered how you'd done it. Love Rambling Ted, and what could be more perfect for your grandson than another Teddy!

God bless your sweet Teddy on his first birthday - what a blessing it is to be a grandparent, which gives the bearer of that title to spoil, love and be blessed by this special gift of God!
Susie, I love how you did Teddy's card with the no line stamping - so soft and sweet - a real keepsake for the scrapbook I hope this child has to collect memories in. Can't wait to see the gift you created for that precious little boy!!
Hugs!
