Here's my card for today's challenge. I live in Ohio and knew the state flower was a carnation so I colored it pink, which is my favorite. However the state flower is a red carnation. Here's more info. Ohio designated the red carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) as the official state flower in 1904 to honor President William McKinley (an Ohioan) who was assassinated in 1901. President McKinley liked to wear red carnations on the lapel of his jacket.
So I learned something doing this challenge! Thanks Linda!
I found this image online and colored it with copic markers. I used the Beautiful Baroque and Perfect Polka Dots embossing folders. I added black pearls to the corners to mimic the ribbon and embossing folder.

Thanks for playing in the challenge today. Not only is your card a great addition, your facts were very interesting. Like how you colored your carnations. Happy 4th.

At least you have a carnation image, I don't. I like your pink carnations. I learned that a scarlet carnation was given to McKinley by an opponent during the campaign. This was a fun challenge.

Wow! Definitely a history lesson on your card today! I love carnations. I used to work in a green house where they grew carnations. I had thought they only came in white or red but was I mistaken! There are some gorgeous colored ones for sure. Love yours on your card today. This is beautiful! TFS :0)
