 | | A project created for the MIX20 challenge to use black to shade an image. I chose to color in my image to create a silhouette.
The bg is a script paper from Bazzill. I added a TH flourish border and heat embossed with white ep. I added three Colorbox gold butterflies to the left side, gradually fading the second and third (it really is there). I used a TH harlequin stamp to add both white and gold texture to the bg.
I created the focal image by stamping a distressed stripe bg stamp in Colorbox Khaki Green onto a very pale collage paper from Prima Botanicals. I stamped the Hampton Art Butterfly Post in Versafine Onyx Black on top and colored in the butterfly with Black Soot Distress Marker. When it dried I stamped a script bg stamp in VersaMark and heat embossed with gold ep.
I backed the image with Scor-Tape and adhered it to the background. I created the frame by applying modeling paste with a palette knife and my finger. When it dried I colored it with the Black Soot marker and added some Rub-A-Gold with a q-tip and a small paintbrush. WAY out of my comfort zone, but I saw the technique on an art journaling video and wanted to try it.
The piece is 5.5" square and I actually attached it to white card base, but this was the best photo! as always, thanks for looking! |
