Little Miss Independence is wearing her favorite dress as she gets ready for the July 4th holiday. She will be decorating her porch this year with patriotic bunting that she will drape over the railings. The best partÂ… the bunting that she ordered was made in the U.S.A!
Inspiration:
This tag was inspired by a conversation between me and my sister-in-law. I told her that I would like to decorate my porch this year with flag bunting. She told me of a flag store near her home in Austin, Texas that only sells products made in the USA. Sweet! The idea for the tag came when she asked: “Are you feeling patriotic NOW?” Why yes my dear, I certainly am! Hee hee
Dress and Accessories:
Prima Mixed Media Doll was stamped several times on different papers. Entire body was cut out first to include her skin tone. (Love those dots – ha!) Her dress, pockets, and headband were fussy cut and then paper pieced on top to pull her all together. Mini star brads used for earrings. Also added some mini ric-rac to accent her dress and punched mini flowers for her headband. The centers of the little flowers are teensy tiny star sequins. Omgosh don’t sneeze, those things are tiny! LOL
Pennant:
I made the pennant by using a clear stamp from Technique Tuesday. (Package says it was made in the USA – yay!) Love this little clear stamp because you can see where you want to position it on your paper. I stamped it 3 times and cut each of them out. (Letters are computer generated.)
Pinwheel:
I didnÂ’t have a fancy die for the pinwheel, so I had to improvise. I made my own by cutting a simple square and making my own cuts, punched holes and inserted a tiny brad in the center to form the little pinwheel. I used a toothpick for the handle and positioned it to look like sheÂ’s holding it behind her back. Hee hee
Rosette:
I added a half rosette that I made by using my scoreboard to score the lines and then accordion folded into shape. I wanted the rosette to resemble the flag bunting that our little Miss will be draping on her porch railings this year. I love this paper – it’s perfect.
Glasses:
Last but not least… those glasses! I have to give my sweet hubby credit for the idea. When the tag was finished, (no glasses) I asked him if he had any ideas to add. Much to my surprise, he said “Yeah, she needs glasses.” Omgosh, I hadn’t thought of that! I used a brad from my stash and glued teeny pieces of glossy black paper on the back to resemble sun shades. I’ve never been much of a fan of a faceless image, but these little dolls are just too stinkin’ cute. My drawing skills are very limited, otherwise I would be tempted to draw a face. Problem solved with the sunglasses. LOL
Hope you enjoyed this very patriotic little Miss.
Thanks for looking.
