Joan's wonderful challenge to use the ombre technique dovetailed nicely with Birgit's Mixed Media challenge to use gesso with newspaper. I'm not thrilled with the results, but would like to try this again. Though it is hard to make out, the newspaper is Japanese. It and the chiyogami were acquired last year when we visited DS there. The Sakura (cherry blossom) Festival we were able to experience is coming up again. Young men and women dress in traditional Japanes garb and bright kimonos were seen everywhere. I wanted to send Jeff a card reminding him of what a wonderful time that was for us.
Thanks Joan and Birgit for your inspiration. Thank you all so much for looking. Have a peaceful day.

This card is absolutely perfect for your son. What a great time that must have been! I love the kimono crafted from chiyogami paper. We are so lucky to have a Japanese paper place in Toronto, but I always spend too much money there! I love how you created the background too!
