Tim Holtz Sizzix dies are so much fun to look at and use. I just LOVE this snowwoman with attitude! She is carrying a bottle of NY snow, bells, and a token. Seems that she's ready to grab that tree, too. After viewing Tim's December Tags ending his 12 Tags of 2012, I knew I had to create a snowy scene with that snowwoman. You can't see it clearly, but the die was cut out of grungepaper, colored with the white paint dabber and embossed using Tim's snowfllake embossing folder. The hat was cut separately so that it could be mounted to her head. The scarf is actually seam binding colored with various distress stains and crinkled while drying (Tammy Tutterow technque). The snowbank was created using the encrusted embossing method I saw on YouTube. This technique took distress embossing ink pad, clear embossing powder, Diamond Dust, and, mica snowflakes. Whew! Labor of love. I used Tim's kraft resist Christmas paper. Had to get advice from Tammy Tutterow on coloring this paper. I needed popping colors. So, I used distress markers that covered well and allowed me to color each word easily.
I loved the way Tim sprayed the picket fence stain on to get that snow efffect so I tried it. Have to be fast with the heat tool in order to prevent the stain from drying into the paper and thus losing the intended efeect. To end, I embossed some plastic packaging with the snowflake folder and attached it with brads that I hammered. All I can end with is...loved it! I will soon post a picture of four I made for my girls, sister and mother. Thanks for looking!
