I made this card for the family of a young murder victim here in Portland....
Heres her story..by Frank Mungeam, KGW.com Staff
GRESHAM, Ore. -- At the Starbucks in Gresham, customers knew Whitney Heichel by name. They say she always had that smile on her face.
"She's just very friendly and outgoing and I'm just devastated to hear that she is missing," customer Kelli Raglione told KGW.
The 21-year-old grew up in Gresham. She was a well-respected student and in January of 2011, she married Clinton Heichel.
The two shared the same faith, Jehovah's Witnesses. They lived in an apartment in Gresham and attended church, twice a week.
Like many 21-year-olds, Whitney's life was on display on Facebook. She posted photos of camping, cooking and spending time with her husband. According to neighbors KGW spoke with, the couple appeared inseparable.
"Any time I've talked to them, they've been so very nice, never hear them fighting, never anything like that,” said neighbor Elizabeth Spencer.
Whitney came from a large family. She had five sisters and a brother. Her family said she hoped to have her own children.
”If you can think of the nicest person you know, that’s Whitney," her mother said at a press conference Thursday morning. "There’s just nothing bad in her. She had no bad habits. She didn’t hang our around with bad people. She was so in love with her husband. She loves her family. And she’s out there, so please help us find her."
Neighbors say her disappearance just didn't make sense. Like the rest of the community, they only wanted Whitney home.
That hope and the search for Whitney Heichel ended tragically late Friday with the discovery of her body on Larch Mountain, and the arrest of Jonathan Holt in her murder.
If anyone wants to send this family a card PM me and I will get the address to you.
