A soldier's armor for Courage of Kings Vacation Bible School 2012.
To make the shield I used the biggest box I could find and used a piece of newspaper folded in half to make a template for the cutting line. Be sure to cut the cardboard so that the corrugation is running vertically because each corrugated piece needs to be bent individually to obtain the curve in the shield.
For the shield I coated the cardboard with brown craft paint using a dampened sponge. I then used the Encore Metallic and used the ink pad to directly stamp the rectangles onto the shield, then after that was dry I coated the whole thing with Versamark and UTEE and heat embossed. To make the vertical and horizontal strips for the cross I used the left-over strips that were created after punching tags for the breastplate (see directions on other photo). The "Faith" emblem was printed on inexpensive cardstock, chalked, mounted on a burgundy CS, Versamark and UTEE applied and heat embossed for a nice shiny sheen.
P.S. I did not make the shoes! I hijacked those from my 13-yo daughter--they were the perfect style and color for a soldier's footwear.
